Miscellaneous Monday: Song lyrics, analysis, and the pool

After taking the weekends off I am too lazy find it hard to remember to get a post ready for Monday.  So I’m going to try out Miscellaneous Monday.  Just random thoughts or happenings from me.  If you’re like me you probably can’t handle much more than that on Mondays anyway, right?

Miscellaneous #1:

Do you often find yourself breaking out into random songs as you say things during the day?  Please say you do, otherwise I’ll think I’m just a raving loon who really needs to get out more.  Actually, I’m probably that anyway.

Anyway, it dawned on me the other day how often I do this.  Here are some examples:

During Lizzie’s attempt to stand by herself I find myself belting “I’m still standing, yeah, yeah, yeah!”  (I’m Still Standing by Elton John)

Then the older girls kept sitting sideways in their chairs at the table, so as I yelled at them for the 30th time politely told them to turn around I break into my rendition of “Turn around, bright eyes, every now then I fall apart!”  (Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler)

I was explaining to Carlie that I love her and her sisters so much that I’d do anything them, which of course led straight into “I’d do anything, for you, dear, anything, for you mean everything to me.”  (I’d Do Anything from the musical Oliver)

And my favorite from yesterday, as I was taking a minute during bath time to sit back and observe the fact that I have three girls (*sigh*): “Girls!  All I really want is girls!  And in the morning it’s girls, cause in the evening it’s girls!”  (Girls by The Beastie Boys)

Yep, I’m singing the Beastie Boys to my kids.  Don’t judge.

Miscellaneous #2:

I happened to mention to my husband how of the ten kids in Carlie’s preschool class, 90% of them have names in the first half of the alphabet.  He responded by telling me I needed to get an analysis job soon since I’m now reduced to looking for patterns in my kid’s school snack schedule.  Whatever.

Miscellaneous #3

We enjoyed the pool for one of the last (if not the last) times this year.  We hadn’t had the chance to get any good “dunk” pictures of Lizzie yet this summer, and man, did we hit the jackpot today.  I’ll sign off with this.  Enjoy!
